Joyce seeks pie charges

-

QANTAS CEO Alan Joyce will seek to press charges against the man who shoved a lemon meringue pie in his face at a Perth business breakfast on Tuesday.

Speaking yesterday after the man responsible provided a statement to Perth radio station 6PR, Mr Joyce said the attack would not stop him from speaking out on social issues such as marriage equality.

Tony Overheu, 67, yesterday identified himself as the man responsible, saying his actions were triggered by corporate support for same-sex marriage.

“Middle Australia completely rejects corporate bullying aimed at social engineering,” he said.

Mr Joyce also took the opportunity to urge the government to put a vote on marriage equality to the parliament and scrap plans for a $170 million plebiscite.
