M1’s fluro inferno

-

A PINK truck stacked full of cardboard caught fire travelling down the M1 yesterday afternoon.

The little truck, with an open back, was filled with pieces of cardboard when it began smouldering, a witness said.

Gold Coast man Peter Chapman said the cardboard on the back of the ute had been smouldering as it travelled north along the M1, before developing into a larger fire.

“They parked on the side of the road and he tipped it up to try and get the cardboard off,” he said.

The truck stopped just before the Tallebudgera Creek off ramp around 1pm.

Emergency services were notified and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

The incident caused traffic delays and no one was injured.
