Baildon invited to rally
cludes the transit centre, car park and park above, was gifted to the council in 1938 by the late Charles Joseph Hicks.
Council wants to use the money from its sale to create extra parkland at the cultural precinct at Evandale.
Mr Sarroff said he was sending invitations to Cr Baildon, Cr Crichlow and Cr Young.
“At the rally (Cr Baildon) needs to demonstrate to the community that he’s doing something to stop it.”
Mayor Tom Tate said he had spoken to Cr Baildon a day after councillors voted at a special budget meeting. “I just cheekily asked him it looks like you’re endorsing Eddy Sarroff,” Cr Tate said. “He said ‘no bloody way’. Print that one.”
Cr Tate likened Mr Sarroff to “a bum looking for a seat”, accusing him of positioning himself for a return to council.
Mr Sarroff, a real estate agent, said he had no plans to run.
