BLUE SKIES ARE AHEAD — FOR NOW

- MEGAN BIROT

IT may seem like the wet weather is behind us but don’t pack away your umbrellas yet.

Gold Coasters will enjoy mostly sunny skies from today until Wednesday with a top of 25C at the seaway and Coolangatta, and 26C inland in Nerang and Coomera.

But the rain will be back with a vengeance from Thursday and into the weekend with over 90mm forecast for the Gold Coast and maximum temperatures of 24C.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Lauren Murphy said a high-pressure system moving across the region could bring mixed conditions.

“We’ll have mostly fine conditions for the first half of the week and then towards the end we’ll be seeing a significant upper trough from the west bringing showers from Friday until Sunday,” she said.

The predicted wet weather is not likely to bother Currumbin surf coach Mia Karam who said the surf was better after a bit of rain.

“I mean it’s nice when the sun is out, but the waves are fuller after it rains and the surf is just really good so I’m not complaining,” she said.
