-

alexandria.utting@news.com.au Day Classic at Broadbeach to remember their mother, wife and friend, knowing she wouldn’t have minded the wet weather one bit.

Ms Brown, a mother of two and special aid teacher, was 43 when she lost her fight with breast cancer in January. She started running about three years earlier and had raced in the Mother’s Day Classic several times with her friend Jane Dillon.

“She used to love running in the rain and it’s pouring today so I think she is here with us,” Ms Dillon said.

Lorraine’s supporters were among almost 4000 mums, dads and children to strap on running shoes and bright pink outfits for the event that raises funds for breast cancer research. The Breast Cancer Foundation hoped to raise $4 million Australia-wide from the event.
