Hold the phone – an extra week a month

MOBILE phone customers are set to save hundreds of dollars a year after telco giant Vodafone revealed it was stretching out its monthly prepaid periods by an extra week.
The move – which is an Australian first – will see the new five-week period overtake the standard monthly prepaid deals that span 28 days and give customers longer to chew through their data.
This means customers will need fewer recharges in a calendar year and consequently save themselves cash.
Telco comparison website WhistleOut’s spokesman Joseph Hanlon said this was a huge win for customers and could put pressure on other telcos to ramp up their deals to save consumers money.
