Police bike causes crash

CYCLING A POLICE motorbike caused a crash that ruined Australian team OricaScott’s pink jersey ambitions at the Giro d’Italia yesterday.

The team’s general classification leader Adam Yates was brought down in a pile of riders that clipped a stationary motorbike on the side of the road with 15km to go on Stage 9 and lost more than four minutes to new race leader Nairo Quintana.

The crash sparked anger from past and current riders who said it should never have happened.
