Wotherspoon reunion not yet going to plan

ree ims e ght terry.wilson@news.com.au I A REUNION of the Wotherspoon brothers Dylan and Blake with Labrador has not gone exactly to plan.

Playing in the same team together for the first time in four years, the Wotherspoons were on a losing side when the Labrador Tigerstix went down 4-3 to Pine Rivers-St Andrews in an upset result in the Brisbane Hockey League.

The signing of Dylan, who is a current member of the Australian Kookaburras squad, was being considered as likely to thrust the Tigerstix right up there with the genuine title contenders.

Instead Labrador still have to work on the team gelling.

Dylan, 24, confirmed that his younger sibling talked him into switching BHL allegiances from Easts to Labrador when he returned from an overseas playing stint.

“We’re living in Brisbane but it’s only about 40 minutes to get to training down there,” Dylan said.

“I’ve always wanted to play in the same side as Blake again and when I came back from overseas he talked me into joining him at Labrador.

“Unfortunately we lost but I thought we were good late in the game .

“I reckon in a few weeks we’ll be as good a side as any in the league.”
