Rank anger over plans
TAXI Council Queensland has criticised a parliamentary committee’s recommendations into the ride-sharing industry as “a political whitewash”.
The bipartisan committee recommended 16 changes to proposed legislation.
The recommendations include a register of banned drivers, rules to prevent drivers pulling back-to-back shifts in Ubers and taxis and a review of whether cameras were needed in ride-sharing vehicles.
Taxi Council chief executive Benjamin Wash said the recommendations did not go far enough.
