Then-QN director Clive Mensink struck a deal with China First just days before the company went into voluntary administration last year to buy $135 million of shares.
The deal effectively made China First a creditor and allowed the company to go after QN’s assets if it didn’t pay up.
Mr Palmer denied that when the deal was made, QN couldn’t pay its debts when they were due and said he couldn’t remember if freight company Aurizon was already owed millions.

Outside court, a minder read a statement from Mr Palmer quoting Bob Dylan’s The Hurricane and comparing the court process to “Nazi Germany”.
Mr Palmer will return to the witness box to give evidence today.
