The man said he reported two shootings to police – the one on April 9 and the one on the weekend – but was frustrated because it seemed as though officers had not yet taken action.

“It’s always the weekend and it’s always early in the morning,” he said.

“It’s just crazy that nothing has been done.”

Nerang Police Station officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Peter Gordon said police continued to investigate a number of incidents in the area.

“All I can say is that we’re following a number of lines of inquiry. The matter is being investigated,” he said. “There have been a number of incidents there in that street.”

The rental property is owned by Gold Coast mayoral chief-of-staff Wayne Moran, who said he became irate when he saw a news report on the April 9 shooting.

In that instance, police said they were investigating claims a shotgun was fired at the property.

Officers found three spent rounds and one live round after a confrontation between a number of men in which two people suffered minor injuries.

But police said the victims were not co-operating with investigating officers.

Mr Moran said his wife got in contact with the real estate agent managing the property and demanded the tenants repair any damage, only to be told the tenants had been given notice to leave.

“The tenants there are moving out so good riddance to them,” Mr Moran said.

“We got very upset when I saw my house on the news. It’s all managed by a mob out at Nerang for us. We said, ‘What the bloody hell ... we want proof that the damage has been repaired’.

“That’s when we got word that they were serving notice to vacate.”

Mr Moran says he expects the tenants to be gone by the end of next month and plans to renovate the property before renting it to someone else.
