The man is alleged to have locked the car doors so the boy could not escape.

He is also charged with offences relating to allegedly touching the boy indecently in the public toilets of Annette Kellerman Park, Broadbeach, later that evening. The boy allegedly escaped and told his mother what occurred before police were informed.

The man was yesterday granted bail in the Southport Magistrates Court. He did not appear in the dock but defence lawyer Andrew Moloney, of Moloney MacCallum Lawyers, applied for bail in his absence.

The court heard the 51year-old now lives with his parents and survives on a disability pension. He has been living on the Coast since 2007, the court was told.

The man was granted bail on the condition he report to police, have no contact with the alleged victim and reside at a Burleigh Waters address. He will return to court on June 1.
