REYNOLDS UP FOR DAVID AND GOLIATH BATTLE

-

their recent domination of the 2017 series.

The trio have shut out the competition to win every race this year.

“You can definitely count me in for a win,’’ Reynolds said. “If not this weekend then certainly this year.

“I certainly think we can become the first team aside from those guys to win a race.’’

Reynolds has already defied expectations by landing his rising team a podium finish at Phillip Island in a surprise start to the season.

“We have just been chipping away at it,’’ Reynolds said.

“A few of the bigger teams have been dominating and it is a strange year for the smaller teams where we just have to keep on going after it.

“It is hard to get race wins and podiums because there are at least 10 very high-level cars on the grid.

“These cars are from big teams with big backing. So they take some beating.

“But, yes, you can count me in for a win.’’

Reynolds said a strong qualifying result in Victoria this weekend was vital to his plan of becoming the first victorious underdog.

“You have to be near the front,’’ Reynolds said.

“And we have been doing a really good job by being around fifth or sixth at best.

“For me it is year two here with a very new team and I am pretty impressed.

“I am really happy with the way we are tracking.’’

Reynolds is hoping a history of surprises at Winton will help him slay the giants.

“I like Winton,’’ Reynolds said. “It is a difficult little track with a new surface, so it will throw up a lot.

“You can expect some mixed-up results like we saw last year.’’

Ford’s Fabian Coulthard (802) leads the pointscore from Holden drivers Shane van Gisbergen (783) and Jamie Whincup (780).

Winton practice begins tomorrow.
