Schapelle ‘stressed and afraid’, says sister

-

CONVICTED drug smuggler Schapelle Corby is stressed and afraid to leave her Kuta home in the lead-up to the end of her parole next week and return to Australia.

Yesterday, Corby’s sister Mercedes (pictured) and her former husband Wayan Widyartha met with officials from Bali’s Law and Human Rights Ministry to co-ordinate the release with Australian Consular officials.

After the meeting, the corrections division chief of the ministry, Surung Pasaribu, said Corby had not attended the meeting because she was stressed and “not fresh”.

“There are many media shooting near the house, so she is scared to go out of the house,” Mr Pasaribu said.

Mr Pasaribu said that the finer details of Corby’s May 27 release had not been arranged.

Mercedes pleaded with the media to give her sister some privacy.

Corby, then 27, was arrested in 2004 after attempting to smuggle more than 4kg of marijuana into Bali.
