PIRATE PARTY
ACTRESS Jessica Green was on the red carpet last night for the Queensland premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales at The Star, Broadbeach. The $300m blockbuster was shot on the Gold Coast in 2015.
THE red carpet might as well have been maroon after the fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise premiered on the Gold Coast last night.
Specifically unveiled for its Queensland cast and crew, homebreds such as actors Lincoln Lewis, Jamie Carter and Jessica Green were among the hundreds of guests at The Star, Broadbeach.
The main actors in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men
Tell No Tales, Geoffrey Rush, Brenton Thwaites and Johnny Depp, were not at the event.
McLeod’s Daughters’ actor Bridie Carter brought her family to the event and said her children, Tobias and Otis Wilson, were excited to see the film. “We’re fans (of Johnny Depp),” she said, adding they were also fans of his dogs.
Guanaba local Jamie Carter, 17, who plays a British soldier in the film, said he didn’t expect his first feature film to be part of the famous Pirates franchise.
Screen Queensland CEO Tracey Vieira said the screening was for locals and other Queenslanders who helped to create the blockbuster. Shot on the Gold Coast in 2015, the Disney film is the largest film shot in Australia, at about $300 million.
It opens on Thursday.
