No down notes with Nikki’s Blues debut

Broadbeach, with organisers predicting almost 200,000 punters packed the precinct over the four days of free live entertainment.

Broadbeach Alliance CEO Jan McCormick said the 16year-old music festival had again lived up to its reputation as a “must” see.

“Saturday night’s crowd was as large as it was Sunday last year, which is traditionally the biggest day due to the headliners,” she said.

Blues on Broadbeach was the first major event held in the precinct since the finalisation of the Surf Parade $5 million upgrade last month.

“Surf Parade is being shown off to the public again after the six-month upgrade took a toll on businesses in the area,” Ms McCormick said.

Base Expresso manager Debbie Lauton said her cafe, which had been trading in Broadbeach for 25 years, recorded its strongest trading in months. “We had to serve all our coffee in takeaway cups,” Ms Lauton said.

While Friday’s downpour caused the cancellation of the 7.30pm set of The Harts, the rest of the festival was incident free as police recorded no trouble across the weekend. Available while stocks last. $4.00 postage and handling applies for phone orders.
