Vow to axe watchdog
AUSTRALIA’S building industry watchdog will be dismantled for a second time if Bill Shorten becomes prime minister.
The Opposition Leader, who addressed the Victorian Labor state conference yesterday, vowed to abolish the Australian Building and Construction Commission. He scrapped it in 2012 as employment minster in the Gillard government but the body was reinstated by the Turnbull Government last year. Mr Shorten also targeted the Government’s claims this month’s Budget was about “fairness”.
