Wallace ready to go

While he didn’t have his best outing in the Titans’ 30-10 loss to Manly on Saturday night, a knee injury to Nate Myles could lead to Wallace being named in Kevin Walters’ squad today.

And the 25-year-old he would be ready.

“If they give me the opportunity, I can’t really say how excited I would be,” Wallace says said. “I think I’m ready for it and if they think I’m ready for it, then we’ll just go from there.

“But I won’t let anyone down if I do get picked. (Now) it’s up to Kevvie and up to Locky (Darren Lockyer) and the other selectors.”

Former Titans captain Myles, who now plays for Manly, suffered a knock to the knee shortly after coming on to the field midway through the opening half on Saturday night and selectors will be sweating on the results of today’s scans.

“He’s pretty dejected at the moment,’’ Manly coach Trent Barrett said of Myles, who was in obvious discomfort and limping badly after the match. “He’s pretty disappointed but hopefully it’s not too serious.”

Wallace said he did not want to gain an advantage because of Myles’s injury.

“You never like to see anyone injured, especially Nate … obviously it’s wait and see and we’ll go from there,’’ he said.

“I want to be picked for how I’m playing, not because of someone’s injury.

“If I do get picked, happy days, it’s exactly what I want.

“But Kevvie and Darren and all the selectors are doing what’s right for Queensland and whatever they do, I’ll back them 100 per cent.”
