Overdose in carpark
TWO youths were taken to hospital after overdosing in a carpark at Southport.
The two young men were with four other people when emergency services were called around 11am yesterday to reports of an overdose.
Paramedics arrived at the Mal Burke Carpark across from the Southport Courthouse on Hinze St and Davenport St, and assessed six patients.
A police spokesperson said the pair had not overdosed on liquid fantasy, but were instead believed to have taken prescription drug Xanax.
They were taken to Gold Coast University in a stable condition. The other four patients did not require transportation. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the hospital would assess the pair for the substance.
