Coast’s top cop backs CCC probe
THE Gold Coast’s top cop has vowed to work with the Crime and Corruption Commission as an investigation continues into allegations of nepotism involving two of the city’s most senior police officers.
The CCC is investigating the appointment of Chief Superintendent Terry Borland’s civilian daughter to various roles within the Queensland Police Service while Gold Coast Superintendent Michelle Stenner’s role in the appointment process is also under scrutiny.
Assistant Commissioner Brian Codd, who heads the South Eastern Region, said it was concerning that details of the confidential investigation had been leaked, but that he welcomed the chance to assist in the process.
“The confidence and trust of the community I serve is paramount,” he said. Police Minister Mark Ryan has welcomed the investigation.
No charges have been laid and the CCC has so far refused to comment.
