Coastalwatch surf reporter John Charlton said recent rain and swells patterns developing in the Coral Sea were presenting a summer phenomenon.
“It’s like everything’s been a little late this year,” he said.
“We had those sweltering hot northerlies through summer but this autumn has been great and the water’s still about 22C.”
Mr Charlton said the pointbreaks had been fantastic all week with great ruleredged sandbanks producing small but fun barrelling waves. “(The surf has) been a little bumpy early but really fun later in the mornings.”
Mr Charlton said the run of easterly swell had been great for pointbreaks from Noosa to Snapper Rocks.
And it is set to continue until at least Friday.
“The winds have been great for the pointbreaks. Any change to direction hasn’t really lasted more than an afternoon.”
