White spot wipe-out
SOUTHEAST Queensland’s prawn farming industry inched closer to eradicating the deadly white spot disease yesterday after biosecurity treatment was completed on seven properties.
Biosecurity Queensland announced it had finished the final treatment and discharge of water from farms along the Logan River and Moreton Bay, which had to destroy prawns valued at more than $25 million. The farmers have received Federal Government funding so their properties can lay fallow for the coming prawn season.
