“These articles were a deliberate malicious takedown of me. I don’t know what other words you would use, apart from nasty to describe these articles,” she said.

Wilson is suing the publisher of Woman’s Day and Australian Women’s Weekly over the articles she said destroyed her career.

Wilson said she thought she knew the secret, unnamed source of the articles, a girl she went to school with.

“This is clearly a girl that just wanted some money,” Wilson said.

“She obviously had problem with my success.”

Minutes into giving evidence, the expat Aussie actor, who is now based in Los Angeles, wiped away tears.

“The reason why I’m here today is to stand up for myself, and to stand up for my family, who’ve been harassed.”
