IT’S MY PARTY AND I’LL BARK IF I WANT TO

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

FOR some pups having just a paw-ful of friends isn’t enough.

Mocha the toy poodle will welcome more than 100 of his furry mates and their owners to his third birthday party.

And owner Dior Wilkinson hopes it will get him into the Guinness Book of Records.

“Last year we had (a party) for him and 30 people RSVP’d but 100 people and 90 dogs showed up,” Ms Wilkinson said, adding she was so surprised and pleased she thought she’d do it again.

“I think it’s a good day for everyone to catch up and take photos.”

Ms Wilkinson said she was still waiting on approval for the record to become an official category.

Party-goers won’t be short on fun things to do, with games like pass-theparcel, a best dressed competition, a raffle and a kiddie pool for hot dogs to splash in.

There will even be a treat table with doggie cupcakes and food for humans too.

But meeting people and other pups at his birthday alone is not enough for Mocha, who is also a certified therapy dog and Insta-famous pooch.

Every week the pup heads out to special needs schools or aged care homes and brings some joy to those who need it most.

“I rescued him when he was ten months old,” Ms Wilkinson said.

“When I rescued him I thought he was (so) friendly ... before he was one (year old) he was a therapy dog.

“His previous owners said he grew too big, well now look what he’s doing.”

Ms Wilkinson said it would cost her around $400 to host Mocha’s party.

Mocha’s third birthday party will be held on 2 July at the enclosed Alexander Clark dog park in Loganholme. Dogs and their owners who get on well with small breed dogs are welcome to attend.
