MAKING PARK GREAT AGAIN

-

PEOPLE are often forced to choose one of two paths in the face of adversity.

They can wallow, pack up and go in search of a new life. Alternatively, they grieve, steel themselves and, in time, begin to embrace new opportunity.

Dreamworld has thankfully decided on the latter.

In announcing it wants to supersize its Coomera site with accommodation and entertainment to turn it into Australia’s Disneyland, the theme park has re-enforced its commitment to the Gold Coast.

Dreamworld has been a pillar of the Australian tourism industry for almost three decades, but it needed new direction in the aftermath of the tragedy last October when four people lost their lives.

Revenue dropped significantly and some of the 1000 staff feared for their livelihoods.

Even friends of Kim Dorsett, the mother of Kate Goodchild and Luke Dorsett who were killed in the accident, said they did not want the park to close, but “something has to change”. In literally embracing a new world yesterday, Dreamworld is promising that change is for the better.
