FRANKLIN GOES ON DEFENSIVE

-

LANCE Franklin says he must focus on the defensive aspect of his game as the Sydney superstar tries to hit top form this AFL season.

Franklin has booted 27 goals this year, with 13 in the past three rounds.

The Swans, who face Franklin’s former side Hawthorn at the SCG tonight, endured a 0-6 start but have looked a different side in beating Brisbane, North Melbourne and St Kilda since.

“I’ve played a few good games here and there but probably been a little bit inconsistent,” Franklin said.

“(It’s important to) stick to the basics. That’s the defensive side of the game.

“I know if I get that right, the other things will happen for me.”

Franklin will wear No.67 tonight in a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the 1967 referendum which voted to include aboriginals in the census and allow the Commonwealth to create laws for indigenous Australians.
