Karters try to coast to French win

-

GOLD Coast karters Jack Hughes, Mick Seeto and Todd McDonald will put their skills to the test by competing in a prestigious 12-hour race in France.

The trio will race for amateur team TSR in the Endurance Cup at the Sodi World Finals.

Held at the RKC Karting Circuit in the north of Paris, the event runs until tomorrow and is to be contested by 40 teams.

Teenager Hughes – the youngest member of the team at age 16 – is excited for the opportunity abroad and dreams of stepping up to the Hyundai Excel Series.

“I can’t wait to take to the track in France,” Hughes said.

“I started racing karts about 18 months ago and have now progressed to an X30 restricted kart.

“France is going to be tough as there are some fantastic teams competing but I have been in training for some time to ensure I have the stamina to race for prolonged periods.

“I look forward to giving it 100 per cent for my team and Australia.”

Based out of Slideways Go Karting in Pimpama, Hughes, Seeto and McDonald qualified for the finals event by placing seventh of more than 1500 teams in the worldwide Sodi Endurance Series.
