Thwarted by cheque

ONE of the Gold Coast’s most affluent fellows has had a deal to buy a slab of land killed by a cheque – and not because it bounced.

Our astute man was trying to buy the land without disclosing he was the purchaser but, unfortunately, the deposit cheque had his company’s name on it, the sellers realised who their true buyer was, and they upped the ante, big-time.

The buyer, who’s made a fortune out of astute property moves, galloped off and the land remains unsold.
