Tweed had five Titans on deck but the man behind the result was stalwart halfback Michael Burgess.

The 25-year-old cleverly directed traffic, produced an excellent kicking display and came up with a crucial oneon-one rake on a rampant Matt Lodge.

“That is the best he has ever played as a Queensland Cup player … it was a fivestar performance,” Zimmerle said of Burgess.

He highlighted Lamar Liolevave’s chasing effort on Dolphins fullback Zach Strasser and held particular praise for William Zillman, Max King and Nick Harrold.

Two-try winger Brayden McGrady finished the game with an ankle complaint.

“Him on one leg is still better than most blokes on two,” Zimmerle said.

Meanwhile, at Mackay on Saturday night, Titans props Paterika Vaivai and Nate Peteru inspired Burleigh to a stunning come-from-behind 34-28 win.

With the Bears 20-0 down and co-captain Luke Page succumbing to a rib injury, it was Vaivai’s try just moments before the break that instilled them with hope.

He then bagged a second try to spark a blitz capped off by a 72nd minute matchwinner to replacement winger Troy Leo.

“There is no doubt getting Peteru and Vaivai back just gave us the go forward we needed,” Burleigh coach Jimmy Lenihan said.

“They played fantastic and then it just gave everyone more room to play.”
