CHAMPS
WORLD sporting champs have signed up to be ambassadors at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School as the college launches its new sports academy.
Swimmer Samantha Riley, Olympic gold medallist rower Duncan Free (above) and surfer Joel Parkinson are among the line-up.
“Through the Lindisfarne Sports Academy students will get the chance to interact with world-renowned athletes,” said principal Stuart Marquardt.
“Being mentored by such ambassadors allows students to access an incredible level of knowledge and support and gives them a headstart in chasing their sporting goals.”
The Lindisfarne Sports Academy will allow students to work with leaders in sports-related fields including nutrition, strength and conditioning, sports science and leadership.
Duncan Free, director of Griffith University’s Sports College, said the academy would offer fantastic opportunities.
“When you look at the people who the students will get to work with, supported by the environment and facilities at Lindisfarne, you can see this is a significant program,” Mr Free said.
Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School is coeducational and goes from preschool through to Year 12.
