-

financial year 2015-16, have driven wonderful economic benefits achieved through passenger and crew spend with local businesses such as tour operators, retail outlets, cafes and attractions.

With the arrival of every ship also comes the fees paid to port authorities.

Queensland as a destination is widely recognised internationally and therefore remains integral in the development of cruise ship itineraries on Australia’s eastern seaboard. We have also seen many new ships make the ports in Queensland a key stopping off point in the last year. These have included Ovation of the Seas, Seabourn Encore, the Norwegian Star and Oceania Cruises’ Sirena.

Our association works closely with Tourism and Events Queensland around their cruise strategies to bring new and repeat visitation each year. We also jointly host Destination Development workshops which help operators understand how to meet the changing demands of the ever growing cruise industry. Recognising the importance of Queensland to the cruise industry, we are holding our annual conference in Mooloolaba in September.
