Bluesfest’s high note

THE receipts are in – this year’s Byron Bay Bluesfest grossed more than $13 million in ticket sales.

Headlined by acts including Patti Smith, Santana, NAS, Neil Finn, Zac Brown Band, Jimmy Buffett, Mary J. Blige and The Lumineers, Bluesfest grossed more than $13 million ($US9,909,630) in ticket sales across five days from April 13-17.

The festival attracted 105,123 punters – a tad shy of its 112,500 person capacity.

The result has rocketed the festival to the top of the Billboard Boxscore list for the week commencing June 3, 2017 – the second time the event has topped the list after it came in first in 2015.

The list ranks the top-grossing live shows by musical artists around the world.
