Outsider eyes Open chance

-

AUSTRALIA’S Wade Ormsby, ranked No.436 in the world, has won a maiden US Open berth after holding his nerve in a qualifying play-off round yesterday. Ormsby, from Adelaide, earned one of 15 spots awarded at a 36-hole sectional qualifier at Walton Health in England. The 37year-old was forced into a seven-man play-off after missing the top-11 to automatically qualify. But his bogey on the second extra hole - the par-3 17th - meant he won the final spot before qualification cut-off.
