manager of life sciences Al Mucci said Sita had grown much older than tigers in the wild, which only lived to around 12 years of age.

He said despite her age Sita was enjoying her daily walks around the park and “she walked the handlers, not the other way around”.

“I'm confident she lived a great life here,” he said.

“You get to know how the cats behave and what they do ... she was much loved.”

Sita is survived by her brother, Rama.
