Monkey chucker ire

-

LANDING a role in a Hollywood blockbuster is a dream come true for anyone – but for one star of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean blockbuster, it was a sick joke.

Actor Kaya Scodelario has been slammed by animal rights campaigners after gloating that the monkey who appeared in the film, shot on the Gold Coast, was constantly throwing up during scenes on a ship, branding it “hilarious”.

Scodelario, who plays Carina Smyth, said: “The most memorable cast member was the monkey because he threw up all the time. He had a very tiny stomach and when we were filming on the boat he would just projectile vomit in the middle of scenes, which I found hilarious.”

Concerns were raised on set in 2015 when the capuchin monkey wounded a make-up artist. A Disney source said the animal welfare organisation American Humane Association was part of the production.
