Goddard eyes more

-

Fremantle ESSENDON star Brendon Goddard plays his 300th game on Saturday against GWS and yesterday he indicated a 16th season was on the cards.

Goddard, 32, has had an illustrious career that includes 205 games at St Kilda before leaving as a free agent to join Essendon in 2013.

The veteran was named AllAustralian in 2009 and 2010 as he helped take St Kilda to three grand finals – resulting in two losses and a draw.

“I would have thought that by the end of this year that (2018) would sort itself out,” Goddard said.

“Physically I feel really good and, mentally, I’m in a good space.

“I’ll continue to play for as long as I think I can help the team or I’m not holding the team back.”

Goddard, who is averaging his most disposals since 2010 and most tackles in his career, said the game had changed significantly since he made his AFL debut in 2003.

“We’ll do a full circle maybe in a couple of years, and now we’re focusing on offence and speed of ball movement ... then we’ll come back to defence,” he said.
