Attention for Fifita

-

MAROONS captain Cameron Smith says Andrew Fifita will not be given the freedom to commit Blue Murder again when Queensland attempts to rescue the Origin series.

Fifita was sensational for NSW in Wednesday’s 28-4 rout at Suncorp Stadium, leading the Blues to a crucial Game One win on the road.

The 120kg prop’s man-ofthe-match performance set the tone for the Blues’ big win.

He played a key role in NSW’s first two tries and scored himself to clinch the victory, eventually charging for 168m, busting seven tackles and making two offloads.

Fifita’s efforts broke the mould for the traditional Origin prop whose job has been to absorb bruising encounters and win the territorial battle.

While Fifita’s eighth appearance for the Blues was his best yet, the Maroons insist he will not be given the freedom to do what he wants in Origin II at ANZ Stadium on June 21.

“We just didn’t do a good enough job on him,” Smith lamented.
