Queensland woman in miracle throat slashing survival

-

AN Australian woman was brutally slashed in the neck while another has described how she spent hours huddled inside a restaurant back room while police and SWAT teams secured the London Bridge area in the wake of a deadly terror attack.

They were among a number of terrified Australians caught up in the devastating butchery in the British capital.

Brisbane woman Candice Hedge, 31, remains in hospital after miraculously surviving the brutal attack in which one of three suspected Islamic terrorists grabbed her head from behind and slashed her throat.

Just one of a number of women targeted by the killers, she was sitting at a bar on Saturday night with her boyfriend having a drink after finishing her shift as a waitress at Elliot’s restaurant.

Last night she took to social media to reassure family and friends last night.

“Hey everyone, just so you know, I’m doing OK. Bit of pain but I will survive. Thanks for your thoughts and well wishes. Love to all.”

Fellow Brisbane expat Lucy Slater was having dinner at a restaurant just 50m away from Borough Market when she saw people running scared down the street.

“There were SWAT teams everywhere for the next few hours, they said stay there and stay down,” she said.
