Paasi had just missed a simple one-on-one tackle to let Guy Williams in for a try.

Lindon McGrady kicked the subsequent restart out on the full before another penalty was conceded to put the Capras firmly on the attack.

But just when the hosts were about to land a killer blow, recalled Seagulls flyer David Sheridan plucked a one-handed intercept to race 100m to change the complexion of the game.

All of a sudden the margin was slashed to eight when a Clarke flick pass combined with a Saville wraparound helped to put winger Pete Lee over in the corner. “They (the Capras) were really physical. They were beating us up at the beginning but we broke them down with Dane Clarke’s offloads and Sam Saville’s fast feet,” Tweed coach Aaron Zimmerle said.

Zimmerle was stoked with the way his side rallied back into the contest.

He held particular praise for Lee, who backed up last weekend’s 181m effort with another busy display – as well as putting previous high ball troubles behind him.

“Massive metres and a credit to him in the sense that last week he had a couple of drops and I know that played on him a little bit,” Zimmerle said.

“He came back this week and all he’s done at training is extras, extras, extras and a couple of those balls that he caught were ridiculous, he had no right to catch them.”

Skipper Sam Meskell was named man of the match.

As for Paasi, the former Warrior got through 44 minutes in his first game since suffering a shoulder injury in March.
