Marshall keen for Broncos return

-

BENJI Marshall is ready and willing to play for another year with the Broncos, claiming he has never been happier.

Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett last week said the veteran half would be re-signed by the club for 2018, after he had already proved himself as a “great investment” so far.

While Marshall, who starred for Brisbane in their 18-16 loss to the Roosters on Saturday, said no one at the Broncos has spoken to him yet about a contract extension, he was confident he could play past the end of this year.

With current halfback Ben Hunt on his way out of Red Hill next season to join the Dragons, Marshall said it could be the perfect opportunity to stay given Brisbane have signed no other halves.

But regardless of what position he plays in, Marshall said the main reason he wants to continue with the Broncos is because he is happy.

“No one has talked to me about it yet … but I still feel like I have a bit left in me,” he said.

“I back myself. Part of the reason for me coming here was to prove something to myself. I know that at the moment there are no other halves signed.”
