Scalded girl: Parents charged
THE parents of a little girl scalded in a bath in Brisbane last month have been charged with her torture and murder.
Two-year-old MaddilynRose Ava Stokes died on May 25 after suffering severe burns to her back, buttocks, groin and legs. It is alleged the child’s wounds were not treated and she was found unconscious at the family home at Northgate.
She died later that night from cardiac arrest at Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.
Maddilyn-Rose’s parents Shane David Stokes, 30, and Nicole Betty Moore, 23, told police she had been placed in a hot bath in the days leading up to her death. Stokes and Moore were arrested yesterday and charged with one count of murder and one of torture each.
