Cop killer ‘celebrated’ on Facebook
‘Bottle thrown at girls from balcony’
A TEENAGE girl who was nearly hit by a glass bottle allegedly thrown from a ninth story balcony in Broadbeach says she is outraged police did not charge offenders.
But police insist they investigated the issue but could not find any suspects.
Kireen Boag, 18, said she was walking with three friends along Old Burleigh Road to pick up food early on Sunday evening when an egg, allegedly thrown from a balcony landed on the ground beside them.
Ms Boag said she and her friends ignored the incident but on their way back were shocked when a glass bottle shattered metres away, spraying the girls with glass shards.
“They were all out on the balcony laughing and stuff,” she said.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers investigated the incident thoroughly but could not identify any offenders. FACEBOOK has invited people to “celebrate the life” of cop-killing gunman Rick Maddison.
The social media site added a memorial message to Maddison’s profile after he murdered Senior Constable Brett Forte, held a 20-hour siege and was shot dead by police last week.
“Remembering message begins.
“We hope people who love Rick will find comfort in visiting his profile to remember and celebrate his life.”
A Facebook spokeswoman said the message was in line with the wishes of “people nearest and dearest” to Maddison Rick,” the and the site’s policies. The message on Maddison’s profile is a generic one commonly used when people die and their accounts are memorialised.
Constable Forte’s funeral will be held at 11am tomorrow at the University of Southern Queensland’s Clive Berghofer Centre in Toowoomba.
