CROWNING GLORY

A letter When little Coralie Bradnam wrote to receive to the Queen, she never expected a reply. Find out what happened.

- LILY MURPHY ST HILDA’S SCHOOL YEAR 11

CORALIE Bradnam is over the moon after receiving a letter from Queen Elizabeth.

The Year 6 St Hilda’s College student penned a letter to the Queen, never expecting a reply.

With the 2018 Commonwealth Games being held in her own back yard, Coralie was motivated to ask the Queen why ballet was not being included in the Games.

“I sent it to her last September, then sort of forgot about it, then I checked the mail in December and I had received a reply.’’

Coralie said she thinks many people would like to watch ballet with all its athleticism and beauty.

Unfortunately, the Gold Coast girl has a bit more work to do before she can ever hope to see ballet at in the Commonwealth Games. Coralie said her Buckingham Palace reply told her: “Her Majesty can’t do anything about it and I have to send a letter to the Commonwealth Games Federation to consider the proposal.”

This isn’t the first time Coralie has made the headlines. Last year she became one of the youngest people in history to reach the summit of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.

The St Hilda’s student climbed the 5895m mountain with her dad, radio personality Luke Bradnam.

Despite suffering altitude sickness after the pair reached 4600m, Mr Bradnam said Coralie never gave up.

“We had to take her down to 3300m and hope she came good,” he said.

“Luckily she did, but only due to the fact she never gave in.

“Without debate I’m the proudest dad ever.”
