STATE COACH KEEPING HIS EYES ON THE TIGERS

-

terry.wilson@news.com.au have both the star Tigers wearing the maroon.

Centre half-back Mills is currently interstate with work and centre half-forward Retzlaff is getting over a hamstring strain.

“Wayde has indicated he wants to play if he can get back in time and we need him because he’s in our best side,” former Carlton AFL coach Brittain said.

“And Bryce has also told me he is keen to play but it depends on his body.”

There should be little to worry about because Retzlaff kicked 11 goals in his most recent match following his hamstring issues.

Retzlaff and Mills are two of eight Labrador players in a 35-strong QAFL squad that will be trimmed to 22 by the end of the week.

“We’ll be training at Broadbeach (Merrimac Oval) on Wednesday night and we should know our final side by then,” Brittain said.

“Right now we’re waiting on any reports of injuries.”

Labrador have eight in the squad, Palm Beach-Currumbin six and Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise have only one player each.

Despite having coached at Carlton and stints as an assistant at Brisbane and Richmond, Brittain is having his first shot at coaching a state representative side.
