Assault in Nerang park
A MIDDLE-AGED MAN believed to have been armed with a knife is recovering in hospital after he was allegedly assaulted by a teenager in a skate park at Nerang.
Police were called to the Pacific Motorway park about 4.40pm after reports a 49-yearold man, armed with knife, was involved in a disturbance with a group of youths.
Police said initial information suggested the man discarded the knife before the altercation occurred.
The man allegedly attempted to strike a 14-year-old boy, however police said the boy hit the man in the face, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head.
The boy left the scene while the man was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment. Investigations are continuing.
