Sex assault on beach
POLICE are looking for a man after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted just north of Byron Bay.
A 31-year-old woman told police she had been sexually attacked by a stranger on Belongil Beach at Tyagarah about 5pm on Monday.
The woman escaped and ran to a hotel on Childe St, Byron Bay where staff helped her and notified police. She was taken to Byron Bay Hospital.
Police would like to speak with a man described as 20-30 years old, having a balding/ shaved head, wearing a white tank top with a Buddhist motif on the back, black shorts and runners and carrying a black bag with brown stripes.
