Bjorn waits on Bonny

-

SYDNEY trainer Bjorn Baker faces a nervous wait this morning as he sweats on a Stradbroke Handicap start for his talented mare Bonny O’Reilly.

While he already has $21 chance Egyptian Symbol qualified for the $1.5 million Group 1 at Doomben, Baker is hopeful Bonny O’Reilly can squeeze into the field when final acceptances are taken this morning.

The four-year-old rocketed into Stradbroke calculations with an impressive win in Saturday’s Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes, her seventh from nine career starts, but she sits 19th in the order of entry.

Only 16 can run on Saturday and the $15 chance will be declared an emergency, meaning Baker is all but resigned to saddling her up in the Group 2 $200,000 Dane Ripper Stakes instead.
