May vowing to get tough

-

BRITISH Prime Minister Theresa May has vowed to tear up human rights laws if they stand in the way of plans to take a tough new approach to suspected terrorists.

“I mean longer prison sentences for those convicted of terrorist offences, I mean making it easier for the authorities to deport foreign terrorist suspects back to their own country,’’ Ms May said.

“And I mean doing more to restrict the freedom and movement of terrorist suspects … and if our human rights laws stop us from doing it we will change the laws so we can do it.’’ THE two beautiful young Australian women slain in the London Bridge terror attacks had “so much to live for”. Sara Zelenak, 21, was yesterday confirmed as the latest victim of the sickening weekend assault, just 24 hours after South Australian nurse Kirsty Boden’s death was announced by the Metropolitan Police. Ms Zelenak’s heartbroken mother Julie Wallace made the announcement yesterday. “Sara Zelenak is confirmed dead they found her body and has DNA tests confirmed thankyou all for the overwhelming love and support from everyone,’’ she wrote on Facebook. A vibrant young woman from Brisbane on a working holiday as a nanny, Ms Zelenak, whose father Ondre lives on the Gold Coast, was one of seven people murdered by terrorists Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba in a van and knife rampage. She was attacked as she left a restaurant with a friend just after 10pm on Saturday. Her stepfather Mark Wallace said he would miss her “funny little laugh”, while Sam Hetherington, who said he had known her since Year 7, wrote that she would be “so overwhelmed by the love from everyone”. Ms Zelenak’s aunt Tara Abela also paid tribute. “She is the most beautiful, funny, happy, positive young lady with so much to live for and it was taken away too early,” she said. Ms Boden, a nurse who had been working at nearby Guy’s Hospital, has been dubbed “The Angel of London Bridge’’ by the British media after she was killed when she rushed to help other victims.
