Wallace has simple plan for big bopper

-

@obrien_GCB Wallace replied “Tackle him”.

“Their forward pack obviously had a lot of energy and they were just ready to go from the first whistle so our defence has got to be a lot better and our energy has got to be a lot better in Game Two,” he elaborated.

With uncertainty surrounding recovery time for Nate Myles’ elbow injury, Titans prop Wallace – 18th man for Queensland in Game One – is considered a good chance to make his Origin debut at ANZ Stadium on June 21.

He took plenty from his chance to join the Maroons simply: JARROD WALLACE camp and warm up with the team on game night. But like injured veteran Matt Scott, who sat next to him during the game, he found the ensuing 80 minutes to be painful viewing.

“To sit there and watch the boys go down like that was very disappointing but I know that they are going to come back bigger and better Game Two,” Wallace said.

The 25-year-old rejected any sense of being confident of a call-up but admitted he would be shattered to miss selection again.

Wallace knows a big NRL performance on Saturday against the Warriors, whose pack includes under-pressure Maroons prop Jacob Lillyman, could be pivotal to his dreams.

“My focus is playing footy for Titans and hopefully off the back of that anything can happen,” he said.

“But it’s up to Kevvie (Walters) and the selectors on what they think is right and if I’m that person, I will definitely be ready to go.”

Wallace added he was looking at his discipline, having this season taken the mantle from Ryan James as the Gold Coast’s most penalised player.

Only Sharks five-eighth James Maloney (21) has conceded more penalties than Wallace’s tally of 13 this NRL season. In other news, Titans utility Tyrone Roberts was restricted to light training duties yesterday with a left shoulder complaint.
