Cody’s new ocean role

CODY Simpson has been named the United Nations Development Programme’s first Ocean Advocate.

The 20-year-old Gold Coast musician, who was given the role to help raise awareness of the role the ocean plays in the health of the planet and people, spoke at the UN Oceans Conference in New York.

“I grew up by the ocean and the beach,” he said. “I want to do everything I can in my life to protect and preserve the ocean. Just as you should in yours.”

Simpson took to Instagram to share a snap of a framed notice of appointment to the role.
